Welcome to my world, this blog is nothing more than the randomness that dominates my life. Enjoy.

Saturday's... How I Love Thee

Saturday's... How I Love Thee

Dan and I have not been watching T.V. lately, we've been reading, a lot! (See my previous blog entry about libraries!)  Myself being the kook that I am have aired up our air mattress and I moved it into the living room.  I know kinda weird but whatev, sometimes I just want to lay in the floor of my living room and veg out.  I slept in here last night all slumber party style and actually had a good time!
Is it just me, or, is the summer the best time to read?  Maybe school has just programmed me to think this way!!

I use GoodReads.com, which has a reading challenge, it also let's you list all the books you've read and it will suggest books which are similar to the one's you've liked.  Back to the reading challenge.  I've challenged myself to read 100 books in the year of 2012.  I stopped using the website for awhile because it was frustrating me but now that I have figured out how to use the website properly, I am back on the reading challenge!
Even though I am no longer eleven this is how I felt last night!

So with an armful of new novels to read, my airmattressed living room floor and a Friends marathon I think my weekend is shaping up to be quite relaxing!  Dan and I also have a favorite meal, a can of Campbell's Chunky soup over rice.  I know it's sort of hot to be eating soup, but, I don't care I love me some soup.  I really want some pea soup, but, don't feel like making it because I think I might be the only one that would enjoy it.
This is sort of the image that you may be getting after reading this entry!

Love and Summer Reading to everyone,

Stephanie

This Is How I Know Things...

Knowledge Is Power

The Tulsa Hardesty Library is really nice, all of these images are from there.
One of my sanctuaries is the library, Barnes and Noble or Books A Million.  I can stay in any of these places for hours on end.  Just browsing through the books makes me so happy and in a good mood... most of the days anyways.  Even if I don't buy anything there is always something to look at and learn.

I am pretty sure that I am a wealth of useless knowledge.  I can answer most trivia questions, hold my own or bluff my way through conversations with people that a far more intelligent then I am or just overall feel superior to the average person I meet.  That's bad but sometimes, when talking to randoms I am amazed how utterly stupid some people are.  True story I meet someone once who didn't know that Hawaii and Alaska are not neighbors in the ocean as they are on the map.  Or once a girl that worked with Dan thought that Thomas Jefferson was still alive, had no idea why Abraham Lincoln was famous and thought that Einstein was famous for inventing the bagel.  Really how have you been alive this long and known so little?  I don't understand.

Which brings me to my next point: the library.  When did this become a hangout for hobos?  I realize they don't care if you are there all day, provide free computer and Internet access and allow you to rent DVD's at no cost but geez if I come across one more person with B.O. and is coughing up Tuberculosis I think I really will gag.  Yes, I don't like germs and I don't like people that don't have the want to even bathe, so public places sometimes are a wee bit of a challenge for me.  Let's just say hand sanitizer is used to the 10th power in places like these!!

I guess what I am saying, is every once in a while do some reading and not Snooki's latest novel.  Actually pick up a book and learn something.  Don't treat the library like it is a Red Box and try to respect a book when you've borrowed it!

Love and reading,

Stephanie

Mother's Day Madness

Mother's Day Madness
This blog entry is dedicated to my mom Karla... Happy Mother's Day I love you!!!
I'm pretty sure my mom had to do this a few times for me, you know, because I  "accidentally" feel into whatever body of water was near me!
Today was Mother's Day.  I think that mother's need more than one day a year, they do something so basic yet it is the hardest job in the world.  Child care.  So my hat's off to all the mom's out there, I salute you!

I've driven to my hometown of Broken Bow, my sister and I gave my mom the day off on Saturday we bought her flowers and then we had a family cook-out for all the mom's in our family.
This is what happens when Sarah and I are left to our own devises!
Then today on actual Mother's Day we went to the lake to go fishing.  We throw everything back and really just want a fish that will fight all the way into the boat.  The answer, Sand Bass.  I really don't even know if that's the technical name, but, that's always what I've heard them called.
Me and my "Sand Bass"

Sarah- she caught the big fish of the day!
What was surprising about the whole day is I actually had so much fun!  I know, I know, how crazy.  Me who snubs my nose at anything country, me that loves being in big cities and getting lost in urban jungles had fun fishing in a boat that could only pick up one country radio station?? The answer, Yes. I. Did.  The radio wasn't my cup of tea, but, it's strange to see that even though I love my cities and will always want to live in one- spending time in the country fits too!  There I said it.

My Mom has always said if I ever moved back here she would have to eat her shoe.  And she is right, I couldn't ever move here.  Just to let you know, there is one McDonalds, a Walmart (that isn't even a Super-Center if you can remember those) a Pizza Hut, Sonic and Arby's.  That's it.  Nothing else!  However, it really has surprised me lately how much I have enjoyed my weekends here... although I guess every thing is enjoyable when you are only there for two or three days at a stretch!  Maybe this is just showing me, you can't out run your roots.  Ahh!! Now that is a scary thought maybe I should run back to Tulsa now?
This is my  Mom and my sister Sarah.

So, whatever way you've celebrated the day of Moms, Happy Mother's Day from me to you.   I love my Mom so much and couldn't imagine my life without her!  I appreciate everything she's done for me, from reading me favorite book just one more time, letting me watch my Lady and the Tramp movie so many times it probably fell apart, to giving me the kick in the pants when I needed it- or just letting me whine when I wanted.  She's the best and I love her!!

This was the best book when I was little and Mom always read to me before bed... so I blame her for my love of books!

Even though this is a cartoon for kids I will still sit down and watch this movie!

Love and fishing,

Stephanie

Away From Home

"There's No Place Like Home"

When Dorothy clicked her heels three times and said, "there's no place like home" girlfriend knew what she was talking about.  And P.S. who doesn't love this movie?  I mean here's Dorothy sitting in boring ol' Kansas when all of the sudden a tornado takes her to a beautiful colorful country.  Lots of flowers, a road made of yellow bricks and a lady that travels in a pretty bubble that wears a pink dress that I have coveted since about the age of four.  This just goes to show you though home truly is here the heart is, because, I don't know who would pick Kansas over Oz- but of course I digress.

I've gone to my mom's yet again one because this weekend is Mother's Day and we are having a cookout for my Nana and two because I do need to get some stuff done for her in her store.  I like working in her boutique especially because I do get paid and her customers are super sweet!

But I hate it because Dan has to stay in Tulsa and I am on my own.  It's not easy to fall asleep when your used to someone always being there, plus I love my house it's my favorite place to be.  So here I am blogging the night away because I can't sleep even though I brought The Big Bang Theory and Oscar, it's still not the same as being at home.  I know tomorrow will be rough because I will have to be up and at least look somewhat presentable!

This is how I am feeling right now!
Well I guess I am off to bed,

Love and hugs to all-

Steph

Birthday Wishes

Birthday Wishes For Me!!

My birthday is next month and Danny asked me what I wanted.  At first I just said nothing because we are going to Miami, FL in July and that really and truelly is enough of a present.  But he says that he wanted to get me at least one thing to unwrap on my actually birthday.  I know how sweet- I just love him he is so thoughtful!

So I have been thinking of a few things and I thought I would make my wish list  public... not because I am narsicitic or anything, just cause Dan can view this page and make his selections with pictures! LOL!!  So here it goes:
I love Sperry Boat shoes, I have one pair but they are looking pretty rough! Plus they aren't leather and they don't really match very many outfits!  I love the classic look of these shoes.

Toms shoes are another shoe that I love, love, love!!!  My sister let me have a pair of hers because they gave he blisters but I would like a pair in blue... Sarah's are black and sequined.  I love these shoes but something a little less loud might me nice :)
Yes, I have a thing for shoes I know this! But these are so classic and cute! I love the red look and they would go with so many of my outfits!
Yes, if these look familer it's because they are.  Its the shirt that the cast of Harry Potter wore in the films... although I love Harry Potter this isn't why I want them. I'm not THAT big of a nerd.  I happen to like the nerdy prep school look and these are made so well that I know they would last a long time.  So being that they were worn by the cast just makes me like them that much more!!!

Yes, speaking of Harry Potter I do want the books in hard back.  Plus I only have 1-5 in paper back so it kind of sucks when the mood to read these books strikes and I can only read part of the series!!!

There ya have it, my birthday wishes.  I can't believe it's my birthday time again... I'm getting old! Sad!!!

Love and hugs,

Stephanie

Three Months of Blogging

Happy Three Months to Meeeee!!!

Today makes month number three of blogging, I have really enjoyed posting something (all most) everyday.  It's kind of a way to let me take my mind of things, vent, think about one subject for twenty minutes and of course just ramble on into the Internet abyss because it lets me.

I've been thinking of posting more about trips that I am planning to take in the next year or two and of course more about weight lose because I am not on track!!!
Yes, I am just aching to go to London some day!!

Or maybe I should make more blogs about decorating and recipes?? I haven't posted many of those and that was one of the reasons I started this blog!
Oh my gosh I want these chairs!!! Especially the pink and blue!!

It's been really fun, so if you're reading this let me know what you think.... what should I blog about next?

Movie Date

Let's All Go to the Movies!!

Tuesday's belong to Dan and I.  It's his day off and of course being that I am not working at the moment, it's mine too.  Even if we're a bit strapped for cash we try and think of something fun to do.  Today we went to the movies which is a bit more expensive that I would wish, but we made an exception because we've been waiting for ages to see- dum da da dum- The Avengers.

We've watched almost all of the comic book movies at the theater and we weren't going to miss this one, because this is where it all comes together.  We even opted to see it on the Imax screen in 3D.  It was amazing I really can't say enough good things about this movie.

It has The Hulk, played by Mark Ruffalo who I think has made the best Hulk... ever.  Chris Evans who is of course Captain America, picking up from the Captain America movie and still does a great job.  He seems kind of like the leader in some of the battle scenes.  Robert Downey Jr. still kills it as Iron Man, I actually clapped my hands when he arrived on scene with ACDC blasting behind him!  Black Widow played by Scarlett Johansson, is one lady you don't want to mess with- she a trained spy with superb hand to hand combat skills.  Chris Hemsworth is back as Thor, looking at him, yeah, he kind of looks like he would be the God of Thunder.  (I really didn't think I would like the Thor movie, because it seemed like it would be a little to Sci-Fi for my taste, but, it was still a really good movie- hands down kicked Green Lantern's ass!!)  Hawk Eye finally gets some major screen time, he is played by Jeremy Renner and it's about time that Hawk Eye made his appearance!  I know he was in Thor but you didn't see much about him so it was kinda like he wasn't.

Even if your not a comic book nerd, do yourself a favor and go watch this movie.  Even my mom went and watched and loved it.  Although she's seen a few of the comic book movies it's not really something that is a major deal to her.  So if she says it's good- it's good!  As for Dan and me, we are nerds so of course we loved loved LOVED the movie- even though there were a couple of movie talkers that made MY Hulk side want to come out and play- more on my movie time etiquette later- even after we left and went to grab something to eat we were reciting lines from the movie!!

Love and 3D comic book goodness to all-

Stephanie
