Mother's Day Madness
This blog entry is dedicated to my mom Karla... Happy Mother's Day I love you!!!
I'm pretty sure my mom had to do this a few times for me, you know, because I "accidentally" feel into whatever body of water was near me! |
Today was Mother's Day. I think that mother's need more than one day a year, they do something so basic yet it is the hardest job in the world. Child care. So my hat's off to all the mom's out there, I salute you!
I've driven to my hometown of Broken Bow, my sister and I gave my mom the day off on Saturday we bought her flowers and then we had a family cook-out for all the mom's in our family.
This is what happens when Sarah and I are left to our own devises! |
Then today on actual Mother's Day we went to the lake to go fishing. We throw everything back and really just want a fish that will fight all the way into the boat. The answer, Sand Bass. I really don't even know if that's the technical name, but, that's always what I've heard them called.
Me and my "Sand Bass" |
Sarah- she caught the big fish of the day! |
What was surprising about the whole day is I actually had so much fun! I know, I know, how crazy. Me who snubs my nose at anything country, me that loves being in big cities and getting lost in urban jungles had fun fishing in a boat that could only pick up one country radio station?? The answer, Yes. I. Did. The radio wasn't my cup of tea, but, it's strange to see that even though I love my cities and will always want to live in one- spending time in the country fits too! There I said it.
My Mom has always said if I ever moved back here she would have to eat her shoe. And she is right, I couldn't ever move here. Just to let you know, there is one McDonalds, a Walmart (that isn't even a Super-Center if you can remember those) a Pizza Hut, Sonic and Arby's. That's it. Nothing else! However, it really has surprised me lately how much I have enjoyed my weekends here... although I guess every thing is enjoyable when you are only there for two or three days at a stretch! Maybe this is just showing me, you can't out run your roots. Ahh!! Now that is a scary thought maybe I should run back to Tulsa now?
This is my Mom and my sister Sarah. |
So, whatever way you've celebrated the day of Moms, Happy Mother's Day from me to you. I love my Mom so much and couldn't imagine my life without her! I appreciate everything she's done for me, from reading me favorite book just one more time, letting me watch my Lady and the Tramp movie so many times it probably fell apart, to giving me the kick in the pants when I needed it- or just letting me whine when I wanted. She's the best and I love her!!
This was the best book when I was little and Mom always read to me before bed... so I blame her for my love of books! |
Even though this is a cartoon for kids I will still sit down and watch this movie! |
Love and fishing,
Stephanie
