Today I Got Trapped in the Fifties...
As this blog has stated several times, I love all things vintage but especially the forties and fifties. I like to go to antique stores and see all the pretty pretties from those era's, I collect and wear vintage clothes and shoes, when I wear makeup I style it in that classic pinup style that you see in old Coca-Cola ads. I even wear my hair in a Rosie the Riveter fashion. Some call it rockabilly which I love those ladies' style but I wouldn't say I've gone that far- although I would love too but don't think I want all the tattoos that they sport.
Today I was really into a fifties mood, I knew I had a lot of house work to be done and I had to go to the grocery store so I thought why not have some fun with it I styled my hair and makeup in my Rosie style. I was having a really good time with it, until I went to the store, everyone was staring at me which usually doesn't bother me... but today was different. Yes, this isn't really something you see a lot of in Tulsa, but geez do you need to stare so much? I think it's cute, just wondering if people are staring because they think it's cute too, or, do they think I am a weirdo?
I know that I am not the only one that sports this style. The other day I watch My Crazy Obsession, featuring Doris MayDay who takes Fifties life to the extreme. She does not have any modern appliances or conveniences of the modern world. Which I think is kind of fascinating. If anyone deserves their own reality show it's her! So Doris if you ever somehow read this (which I don't know how you would since you said you don't own a computer!) I want you to know I salute you and your style!!
So let me know readers, yay or nay to the Fifties style?
Hugs and Coca-Cola refreshments,
Stephanie
(Maybe I should think of a cute Fifties name for myself... Peggy, Betty or Lucy? LOL!)
